This mid-century modern residence was carefully renovated to integrate contemporary elements into the fabric of an existing 1960s-era gem. Rather than competing with the original architecture, the design team drew inspiration from the home’s historic soul—specifically the rugged texture of the existing stone walls, the warmth of the mahogany millwork, and the striking patina of the copper fireplace surround. The renovation serves as a dialogue between eras, ensuring that every modern update feels like a natural evolution of the home’s storied past.

The primary goal of the intervention was to dissolve the boundaries between the interior and the desert landscape. By introducing new, expansive sliding glass doors, the living spaces now extend seamlessly onto exterior patios, doubling the home’s perceived footprint. The result is a series of light-filled, sophisticated spaces that enhance the simplicity and grace of the original design.
This newfound transparency allows natural light to activate the rich material palette, creating a home that is as functional for modern living as it is respectful of its mid-century roots.
