Playground Bar & Lounge, a cornerstone of the downtown Tucson social scene, underwent an extensive transformation to evolve from a popular local spot into an extraordinary multi-level destination. The design intent focused on a comprehensive “refresh” that reimagines every surface and finish, expanding the footprint to maximize its prime urban location. By blending modern architectural style with high-energy hospitality, the project creates a sensory experience that celebrates the vibrant streetscape and the city’s skyline.

A primary goal of the renovation was to enhance the building’s relationship with its environment.
The ground-level bars were completely reimagined to provide a first-class service experience, while expanded and shaded patios now reach out to engage the sidewalk.
This strategic transparency not only invites the energy of the street inside but also creates a seamless physical and visual connection to the adjacent AC Hotel, solidifying Playground’s role as a vital hub in the downtown core.
